About Dominik Jais
Dominik Jais works across permaculture, design, technology, writing, teaching and creative practice.
His work is shaped by a long-standing interest in how systems function — ecological systems, digital systems, social systems, and the tools we use to organise our lives.
Originally coming from a technically oriented background, Dominik has explored technology not only as a practical tool, but also as cultural material: through visual art, electronic music, photography, upcycling, digital experiments and critical reflection. Many earlier works deal with themes such as waste, environmental responsibility, memory, progress and the relationship between humans and machines.
Today, much of his work is focused on permaculture education, design thinking and the question of how people can create more resilient, ethical and regenerative ways of living. As a permaculture teacher and tutor, he supports learners in understanding design processes, ecological thinking and the practical application of permaculture in everyday life, projects and communities.
He is the author of Digital Permaculture, a book exploring how permaculture thinking can be applied to the digital world, including technology, infrastructure, communication and online systems. His upcoming book, Permaculture Design 2.0, continues this work by looking more deeply at design tools, processes and frameworks for contemporary permaculture practice.
This website brings these different strands together: books, teaching, art, sound, photography and older experiments. It is not a conventional portfolio, but a personal archive and working space — a place where creative work, ecological thinking and systems design meet.
